Scuba Ventures Monthly Newsletter

Note from the Owner: Scuba Ventures recently returned from a great dive trip to Florida.  The trip consisted of diving at Vortex Springs in Ponce de Leon Florida, snorkeling two days with the Manatees in Crystal River FL, diving in Rainbow and Crystal River, and also diving at Walt Disney Worlds Epcot Aquarium.  The visibility was great at Vortex and we had the entire park to ourselves.  We spent our surface intervals swinging off of the rope swing, zip lining, and diving off the platforms and diving boards into the spring.  The Manatees were great, we spent a day in Crystal River and then went to Homosassa to watch these gentle giants in their shallow water winter homes.  To top it off we went and dove in the Epcot Aquarium.  We dove with three turtles, 6 sharks, a Goliath Grouper, and tons of other aquatic life.  Everyone enjoyed everything we did, but everyone raved about the Epcot dive.  The behind the scenes tour was fantastic, posing for pictures, blowing bubble kisses, and waving to all the people in the restaurant was a blast.  The dive team at Disney is great and they made both of our groups feel like we were part of the Disney cast.  This will be an annual trip for Scuba Ventures!  Check out pictures on Scuba Ventures facebook page!  Everyone had a great time!

At the beginning of January we traveled to Lake Ouachita for our annual Polar Bear Dive.  Water temperature was a warm 52 degrees (haha just kidding), and the lake was absolutely beautiful.  With many of the trees without their leaves you could see the terrain in a way we don't see in the summer months.  Visibility was not bad and we enjoyed a nice warm fire, hot chocolate, and chili.  When you see someone wearing a shirt that has a polar bear diving, then you know that they love to dive or they are just a tad bit crazy!

I want to also thank everyone for a great year in 2011.  Scuba Ventures had a record year and we enjoyed every minute training and diving with you.  2012 has started very strong and we are happy to see so many people enjoying the sport that we love.  Come and go diving with us, there are no excuses not to dive this year.  Almost every month we have an ocean trip and are working on more trips for the latter part of the year.  Invite co-workers and friends to Try Scuba.  We have those classes scheduled every month for your family and friends.  So bring them down to the store and let their adventure begin!

Cozumel, Mexico

Roatan, Honduras

What an awesome trip this will be!  Scuba Ventures will be going to Roatan, Honduras April 28 - May 5, 2012 and staying at CoCo View Resort.  The casual ambience of the resort encourages a warm and pleasant atmosphere and the staff makes you feel welcome!  Between the premier diving, island picnics and parties with live music, and all meals included, you are set for a GREAT time! 

Belize Trip

Lose yourself in the island accommodations at Ramon's Village Resort, the best of Belize resorts!  An exotic beachside island paradise awaits you!  Marvel at the stunning, authentic thatched roof cabanas, tropical lagoon-style pool, fabulous restaurant, and the world famous Purple Parrot, all the while enjoying beautiful diving adventures!  The trip is June 6 - 11, 2012 and includes 4 days of 2 tank boat dives!

Flower Gardens

Scuba Ventures will be taking two trips to the Flower Gardens in 2012:  July 12th - July 13th and September 29th - September 30th.  The Flower Gardens are the northernmost coral reefs in the United States. Located about 105 miles directly south of the Texas/Louisiana border, they are perched atop two salt domes rising above the sea floor.  The nearest tropical coral reefs to the Flower Gardens are 400 miles away off Tampico, Mexico. Scientists believe that corals at the Flower Gardens probably originated from Mexican reefs when currents in the western Gulf of Mexico carried the young corals (planulae), other animal larvae, and plant spores northward. A few of these planulae were lucky enough to settle on the hard substrate of the Flower Garden Banks.  Great diving awaits you, so don't delay in signing up for a spot today!
