Public Safety Diver

This specialty course is designed for the certified Open Water Diver and especially designed for those who are in public service. Participants will be provided with the fundamental knowledge to safely perform the following underwater tasks:

• Black Water diving and orientation
• Use of specialty search equipment
• Self-rescue and safety procedures

There will be special emphasis for Police and Fire Department personnel in the recovery and management of drowning victims and Crime scene/police evidence investigation.

Participants will receive a National certification as a SSI Public Service Diver. Stress/Rescue Diver's credentials will include SSI Search and Recovery certification (described below). Only Public Service Divers may wear the singe purple ban on their snorkel and the Unique PSD patch on their jacket.

We provide the ares only Scuba Schools International and National Association of Underwater Instructors Recognized "Public Safety Diver Certification Course"; *A.C.E. accredited. Since 1964, our instructors have trained dive teams for the Shreveport Fire Department, Caddo Parish Sheriff Office, Bossier Parish Sheriff Office, La. State Police (Troop G), Webster Parish Sheriff Office, DeSoto Parish Sheriff Office, Rapides Parish Sheriff Office and the South Bossier Fire Dept.

This specialty certification includes Stress & Rescue certification.

Often sport divers are asked to search for and recover items lost in the water. It might be a ring, watch or even some object as large as a boat motor. Whatever the object, divers need to assess the situation and determine their ability to retrieve that object. Many considerations need to be addressed, such as stress, depth, size, equipment restrictions, and cost benefit. This course will accelerate the learning process, and make you a safer, more productive search and recovery diver.
